MY STORY

our family session 2020-22.jpg

MOM | REALTOR | BRAND & LIFESTYLE PHOTOGRAPHER | VOLUNTEER | HALF ENTRAPRANUER |CHEC|DIE-HARD FRIEND

Hi! I’m Andrea & I’m so happy you’re here. I love a good book, good conversation, good food with family || dear friends. I love the smell of my kids hair (but mostly after it’s been washed), as I hug them. I enjoy dinner dates with my mister sharing the favorite parts of our day and talking about our kids.

It all comes down to this. I love connecting with people. In my work it’s all about you… and giving you tangible, beautiful momentos of what you may not be able to see in yourself.

I’ve been told I’m relational as much as I am passionate. I spent years in technology business development, making real connections with people and building relationships. How I came into photography is because of my kids as well as my parents, who were usually with a camera in hand.

My dad, an engineer || machinist, he was as artistic as he was technical. My mom captured pretty much everything we ever did, every road trip to our Idyllwild cabin and every pool hang out with our friends. She hired a swim instructor one summer and offered swimming lessons to all the neighborhood friends who swam at our house. In front of our house, she hung a flag to let the littles know when pool hang out was open or closed… true story and my gratitude to her for her recording it all.

I took my first film photography class in high school and fell in love with its symmetry, composition. I worked two television news internships in college. After graduating with a degree in journalism, one of them turned into an editor role for the FOX News affiliate in Oakland. Ultimately story telling, its connection, vulnerability and emotion is what stole my heart.

My mom, a retired realtor, the consummate networker and your best friend, booked my first photography job before I made the leap of faith to start this business, 12 years ago. Both she and my dad are why this work holds my heart.

I lost both my parents not so long ago and 22 months apart.

The photographs now document our family history and help ease the void. Their loss keeps me thriving on legacy and why I feel it’s so important to record it.

MY CHILDREN ARE MY HEART-BEAT

While I have various titles, it’s the title of mom that defines who I am. You’ll find me working hard at most everything I do, especially the quiet soul work (who am I kidding) chaotic, beautiful work of being a mom.

Family is everything to me. It’s why I make sitting down to a family dinner one of my highest priorities, why their dad and I, who was my husband for 18 years, co-parent as friends for them and everything they are, everything they do.

It’s why my heart-space is telling a family’s story and why story and connection are the common threads and fiber of my work.

I will probably always be directionally impaired and serve to a fault, yet I know connection and I know beautiful visual story telling. I’d be over the moon to tell yours.
